Ever since I was a kid, I would look for an out during most days of my life, and I always sought ways to reach that “out”. I enjoy the quiet, calm spaces amid the craziness of everyday life. Even if it’s outside in a big city, everyone needs an escape route. I like finding those spots that are quiet and a mix of nature and man-made. My goal is to reach the individuals who enjoy the quiet in the chaos and make it feel like you’re finally entering a space you’ve been searching for.
When I find these spaces, I will journal or draw. It gives me time to catch up with myself, and have a moment to breathe and be myself. I’ve always been around scrapbooking so it has naturally become a part of me. In my eyes it gives a different perspective to this project, like a glimpse into someone’s life. Because of this I have decided to present these photos inside of journals, with scrapbook-like pages to go with them. This body of work shows places in my life that are a part of that “out” I always seek, and journaling is another way to help find that.
